In the event of snowy weather, the snow warden aims to grit the 'primary route' through the parishes. The Parish Council offers this service as Devon County Council does not grit the minor roads in the Parishes in the event of snow or ice.

The 'primary route' is shown in the map below. This service is only intended to deal with predicted snowfall and not simply when ice may be present on local roads. We do not grit other routes in the area or in the case of purely icy conditions. In icy conditions, extreme caution is advised as the narrow, hilly roads in the Parishes can be very dangerous when icy.

In the event of ice on the roads, parishioners are encouraged to treat the roads themselves using the bags of grit and grit bins provided by Devon County Council Highways Department.
